Devon “Pete” Cole:   A native Floridian, Devon’s family relocated to Clermont when he was 3 and he has been a resident of the area ever since.  After graduating from Lincoln Park High school, the segregated school for Black students, Devon attended college and served in the U.S. Army fighting in the War in Vietnam.  He and his late wife, Aurelia M. Cole (a founding member of the Historical Society) were married for 49 1/2 years and had 2 children and 4 grandsons. Since retiring from UPS Devon has worked at Floyd’s Funeral Home and as a bail bondsman.  In addition to the Historical Society, Devon volunteers with the Lincoln Park Rams Motorcycle Club.  As such a long term resident of Clermont, Devon understands the importance of preserving the rich history of our beautiful city and passing the information to visitors and younger generations.

Born and raised in South Florida, Karen was a kindergarten and first grade teacher there for 35 years.  With her husband Stuart, she moved to Central Florida about 15 years ago.  They have 3 sons and 5 grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, sewing, and quilting and she is an active member of Congregation Sinai.

Raised in New Jersey, Donna spent her adult life working as a history/social studies educator and high school administrator in Maryland. In 2007, she retired and moved to Lake County to be near her oldest daughter's family. Now that her other daughter and family also reside in Florida, she feels she has the perfect retirement. Donna is a member of the DAR, Women's Giving Alliance, and Beta Theta, and volunteers at South Lake Hospital.

A native Floridian, Micki’s family came to South Lake County when she was a young teenager.  After working as an educator in the Lake County School system, Micki founded her own successful real estate business.  She is also one of the founding members of the Historical Society.  The mother of 1 daughter and grandmother of 3, Micki is well known in the Clermont area for her philanthropy and support of many charities including the Mike Connolly Hospice House and the arts.

Born in Germany, Dieter moved to Canada when he was 8 years old where he grew up and married a Canadian girl.  In 1983 they moved to California to take over his father’s business upon his retirement where he ran a successful architectural plywood factory for years.  He retired and moved to Geneva, Switzerland for several years before returning to the US for his wife’s retirement.  In addition to the Historic Village, Dieter has volunteered at LAPD, NTC, Sommer Sports, Flo-dash events, and the Clermont Performing Arts Center.

Larry Oskin

Originally from Buffalo, New York, Larry Oskin has worked in professional marketing, media relations, and graphic design for more than 50 years. He is the owner of Marketing Solutions and has extensive experience in branding, communications, photography, and public relations. In addition to serving on the Historical Society's Board of Directors, Larry is also a board member of the South Lake Nonprofit Think Tank.

Charles Frost

Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, Charlie was a journeyman carpenter for 55 years. He moved to Clermont in 1974 and worked at Walt Disney World. He and his wife JoAnne (now deceased) were married for 56 years and have one son, Charles Richardson Frost III, who also resides in Clermont.

Chuck Seaver

Born as a sixth generation native to the Clermont area, Chuck has lived in and around Clermont all of his life. He enjoys serving the community in many facets including a career in public safety, from which he is now retired. Chuck is an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Clermont, The Neighborhood Center of South Lake's Board of Directors, the Building Blocks Ministries Board of Directors, and the Cooper Memorial Library Association's Board of Directors. Chuck and his wife of 35 years, Sherry, have five grown children and four grandchildren so far. 

"Clermont is where my heart is. Although the town has changed immensely over the past several decades, there is still something special about Clermont that no other place can duplicate". 

A Florida native, Tom grew up in the small village of Bagdad, near Pensacola.  He moved to Central Florida in 1984 and made his permanent home in Clermont in 1997.  He is employed as an engineer by a German-based machinery company.

Tom married his wife Alexandra in the Grace Chapel at the Historic Village, and they have two children: an adult son and a daughter still in high school.  The family attends Living Hope (Methodist) Church in Clermont.  Tom also volunteers with New Beginnings of Central Florida as time permits.

His family has always been very focused on local history.  His mother and sister both served with the Bagdad Village Preservation Association, of which Tom was also a member.  He tends to accumulate items of historic nature and enjoys making them available to anyone interested in the past.  Having seen how time, progress, and indifference can erase history, he is committed to keeping Clermont’s past alive through the Historical Society.
